Standard spring applied brakes 0.12 to 125Nm
INTORQ type BFK457
Simple and economic pre-assembled multi-spring brakes in 9 sizes.  There single disc friction brakes are easy to mount.   A hand release is optional.
Spring applied brakes are robust and reliable with multiple springs to give safe stopping and holding of machinery.  Whilst the machine is running they are held in a released state by DC voltage with options from 12 to 205V.

Modular spring applied brakes 2 to 600Nm
INTORQ type BFK458
The BFK458 is a modular range of single disc friction brakes with electromagnetic release.  There is a wide range of options including adjustable brake torque, manual release, microswitches and high environmental protection.
The BFK 458 brake is known worldwide with millions in service in many safety critical applications such as cranes, lifts and hoists.  Other industrial uses include brake motors, wind turbines and powered carriages.  The single brake disc has friction material on both sides and operates under dry conditions.

Other spring applied brakes
INTORQ types BFK418, 454, 461, 466, 468, 470,471
Brakes for wind turbines, for lifts, caliper disc and high torque multi-coil brakes.  There are models available for torques up to 2400Nm and enclosure to IP66.

Power on clutches and brakes 7.5 to 480Nm
INTORQ types 14.105, 14.115
Electromagnetically engaged friction clutches and brakes for general duties with long life.  These clutches and brakes suit both static and dynamic duties.  Supply voltage is normally 24V.
These INTORQ disc clutches and brakes are designed for operation in dry conditions.  They suit varied industrial machinery where  part of the drive has to be engaged or disconnected.  They are backlash free when engaged and give a long service life.
Also available on request are packaged clutch/brake units.

High torque friction clutches 400-2000Nm
Moenninghoff type 450 pole face friction clutches give high torques in small dimensions.  They have a high resistance to contamination which suits them to mobile applications such as pumps and agricultural machinery.

Tooth clutches and brakes 6 to 16000Nm
Moenninghoff types 546, 547, 548, 549, 550, 560
Electromagnetic tooth clutches and brakes, also spring applied, backlash free and pneumatic models.

The range of Moenninghoff (also Mönninghoff and Monninghoff) industrial toothed clutches and brakes is extensive.  They give positive engagement and can synchronise input to output.  Most models are engaged by 24V DC current but there are also models for 6 bar pneumatic engagement.  In addition spring applied toothed clutches with electromagnetic release are available.

INTORQ company profile

The INTORQ range of spring applied energise to engage brakes 0.1 to 600Nm and energise to engage clutches and brakes 7.5 to 480Nm gives you world leading quality and performance.  Completing the Techdrives portfolio are electromagnetic tooth clutches and brakes from Moenninghoff, 6-16000Nm.

INTORQ is a company formed by a management buy-out from Lenze in 2003.  They are a world leading manufacturer of electromagnetic clutches and brakes.  Moenninghoff are a partner to Techdrives manufacturing clutches, brakes, torque limiters and gearboxes with special expertise in the area of tooth clutches.

Spring applied brakes (sometimes known as safety brakes) are used for the dynamic stopping and holding of loads.  When the supply power is off, the brake is on.  Brake release occurs when a dc current is applied to the coil.  This type of brake is commonly found in brake motors.  A manual release can be fitted.

Spring applied brakes give a high level of safety and B10 data is available to aid the assessment of the safety level of the machine.  Safety is achieved through the brake design, the multiple springs and the quality of materials and machining.  However ultimately no brake can give safe operation of incorrectly maintained.  For use in sensitive applications such as passenger lifts, special brake designs with increased safety are available.

Energise to engage electromagnetic clutches are switching devices that engage on application of a dc current (usually 24V) and transmit torque by friction.  Energise to engage electromagnetic brakes also suit dynamic and static holding duties.  When dc current is removed the brake is off.

Moenninghoff are specialist manufacturers of clutches, brakes and couplings with extensive experience.

Tooth clutches and brakes give high torques in compact sizes, torque transmission without slip and can achieve other functions such as torque limiting and synchronisation.
