These friction torque limiters are simple and low cost devices to remove shock loads and protect machinery from damage.  Setting of the slip torque is stepless and easily done by turning a locking ring.  They can be used in dusty conditions and both directions of rotation, also with input at either the shaft or the sprocket.  Optional simplex chain sprockets are available.  Twelve models suit adjustable torques from 1 to 23000Nm.

The DF range also includes in-line versions with flexible couplings, models with long hubs for wide sprockets, with reduced diameters, with male shafts to connect with hollow shaft gearboxes, and with signalling of overloads.

Friction torque limiters are best located on  low speed shafts.
Repeated or extended periods of slip are not recommended.
