Large planetary gearboxes 600 to 26000Nm
Vogel industrial planetary gearboxes are compact high torque drives in 7 sizes covering torques up to 26000Nm. One two and three stage models achieve exact ratios from 3.4 to 245. Backlash is low ranging from 10 arcmins at 1 stage to 20 arcmins at 3 stage, and efficiency high at 95 to 97%. Optionally a spiral bevel gearbox can be added as an input stage creating a right angle drive with ratios from 60 to 210.
These planetary gearboxes are used where space and weight are at a premium and where high efficiency is needed in fixed and mobile applications, special designs can be supplied. For example Vogel manufacture planetary gearboxes for wind turbines. Small planetary gearboxes are combined with servo motors for the pitch adjustment. Large planetary gearboxes with a rated torque of 150kNm are used on azimuth drives where typically five connect to a ring gear. Brake motors are used. These drives are modified for operation in the wide temperature range that can occur in this application.
