Controllable pneumatic torque limiters

ComInTec  types DSR/F/AP & DSF/TP/AP 3 to 30000Nm

Pneumatic actuation of these torque limiters gives the advantages of control and ability to disengage.

The release torque can be set remotely or even automatically by varying the applied pressure, suiting for example machines with a high starting but low running torque, or where the load varies through a cycle.  In addition these torque limiters can act as a clutch to engage/disengage the drive.

There are two different types:

Type DSR/F/AP based on rollers to transmit torques from 7 to 30000Nm.  Release torque is proportional to the applied pressure and ratings range from 1 to 15 bar, although more usually 6 bar is a maximum.  Once the pressure is removed the drive can be run continuously with no residual torque.  Models are available for offset or in-line drives and optionally the output can be synchronised to input.

Type DSF/TF/AP  uses simple friction discs and a chainwheel to give torques from 3 to 875 Nm.  This type can be used as a torque limiter that slips at a torque  proportional to set pressure from 1 to 10 bar.  Alternatively it can be used as a tensioner or a brake under constant slip conditions.

Models are also available for in-line connection.
