The SJ design of screw jack suits standard applications and are part of the Techdrives product range. Fourteen models suit lifting loads from 5 to 1000kN and linear speeds can be up to 86.7mm/s.  Maximum duty cycles are up to 30% based on a 10 minute period.  Strokes up to 6m are possible subject to load guidance and critical speeds.

SJ screw jacks have a monobloc housing in cast iron (except SJ05 & SJ10 in aluminium).  The square shape is easy to mount.  Screws are constructed in C43 steel with 1 or 2 starts.

SJ screw jacks are available in travelling screw and travelling nut designs.  Higher duties up to 100% are possible with ballscrew options.

Type MA with high efficiency 5 to 350kN (35 tonne)

Screw jack type MA travelling screw

Type MA screw jacks are part of the Techdrives product range and feature upgraded construction for increased loads and duties.  Eight  models suit lifting loads from 5 to 350kN and linear speeds up to 300mm/s are possible.  Maximum duty cycles are up to 40% based on a 10 minute cycle, strokes up to 6m are possible subject to load guidance and critical speeds

Travelling screw and travelling nut designs are available.  A wide range of options includes ballscrews for duties up to 100%.  Screws can have 2, 3 and 4 starts for higher efficiency and higher linear speeds.

Higher speeds are achieved with standard options for 2,3 and 4 start acme threads.  Duty cycles for travelling screw models are 40% over 10 minutes, 30% for 1 hour.  For travelling nut models they are 30% for 10 minutes or 20% over 1 hour.  Duty cycles can be extended with derated loads.  Alternative high efficiency ball screw jacks can be supplied with a 100% duty rating.

Supplier profile

Servomech website

Screw jacks transform a rotary input into linear movement in a vertical or horizontal plane.  Both push and pull loads are acceptable in any mounting orientation.  Inputs are generally from electric motors connected by couplings or directly by flange.

Servomech Screw Jacks deliver medium to high forces (5 to 1000kN) in linear motion for strokes that can be chosen between 100mm and 6m.  Linear speeds up to 300 mm/s are possible with duty cycles up to 40%.  A comprehensive range of options includes safety nuts, motorised models and stroke limit switches.

Techdrives are the UK agents for Servomech, specialists in linear motion with over 20 years experience in the manufacture of linear actuators and screw jacks.  Two standard ranges are offered:  the SJ standard and the MA high efficiency.

Screw jack options

Travelling screw is where the acme thread moves linearly through the worm wheel in the casing
Travelling nut is where the acme thread is fixed to the worm wheel, and an external bronze nut travels up and down the thread
Motors - ac, dc and servo motors can be supplied directly connected by flange to the screw jack.
Protective tubes are often used with travelling screw models to protect the non-working side.
Safety nuts can be specified for travelling nut models to prevent catastrophic failures.
Stroke limit switches prevent over-stroking
Wear monitors and many other options are detailed in the catalogue.

Lifting systems
On request we can configure customised multi-jack lifting systems.  These typically include a brake motor, spacer couplings and right angle gearboxes.

Ball screw jacks
In a new patented design, we are able to supply the type MA screw jacks with ball screws that are highly efficient allowing up to 100% duties.  Load capacities range from 10kN to 350kN.  Further details on request
